жесткость
1. Отношение напряжения к соответствующей деформации; чем больше требуется усилий (напряжения) для получения заданной деформации, тем больше жесткость.
2. Способность элемента конструкции противостоять упругому отклонению. Для одинакового материала конструкции жесткость увеличивается при увеличении момента инерции, зависящего от размеров и формы поперечного сечения.

При деформ. в пределах закона Гука ж. определяется произвед. модуля упругости Е (при растяжении, сжатии и изгибе) или G (при сдвиге и кручении) на хар-ку попереч. сечения (пл., осевой момент инерции и др.).
